Map of Commonwealth Games 2010
Commonwealth Games will next move to Scottish Highlands in the year 2014, as the Commonwealth Games, 2010 ended as a spectacular and successful event in India. The most expensive sport event ever, The Commonwealth Games 2010 was the first even that took place in India and the 2nd in Asia.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games commenced with a many controversies and concern, from 3rd of October to 14th October. 6081 athletes from seventy one nations participated in twenty one sports, all to make this event a grand success. It has been the largest international sport event ever, which took place in India. As Australia emerged as the winning nation, India secured the second position and England emerged as the third best.
On the occasion of the Commonwealth Games 2010, the CWG organizers signed the MoU i.e. a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the “United Nations Environment Programme” upholding the intention to arrange for a “sustainable games”, thereby taking into consideration, the environment while constructing the venues.
Although the 2010 Commonwealth Games started with many flacks, but fortunately enough, India has been able to rise to the occasion just in time, thereby putting up an amazing extravaganza, displaying the country like never before! Well can we then say “Commonwealth Games 2010: a Triumphant Win”?
Most fascinating is the fact that India has always been a single-sport nation with all the excitement, talent, support, sponsorships, and media attention etc, reserved for the game of cricket. The hosting of CWG 2010 has made it possible to expose the Indians to non-cricket sport events and encourage the country for the same.
