Bihar Assembly Polls

The Bihar Assembly Elections commenced from 21st of October 2010 and would continue till 24th of November 2010. It would be really exciting to watch whether the voters of Bihar appreciates and welcomes the works of Nitish Kumar and bring him to power again or decides to bring Laloo Prasad Yadav to power.

The Bihar elections are likely to be fought among the Rashtriya Janata Dal of Laloo Yadav’s and Janata Dal of Nitish Kumar. Bhartiya Janata Party is expected to support JD while LJP pf Paswan and the Left Front will probably extend their support to RJD.

The Bihar Assembly polls 2010 will take place in six stages for a period of one month. While the 1st phase commenced on 21st of October, 2010, the last phase will end on November 2010. Election results will be out on 24th of November 2010.

More than 5, 50, 88,402 electors are expected to exercise their power of voting in about 56,943 polling stations. Notification for the 1st phase and the 6th phase of election was issued on 27th of September and 27th of October 2010 respectively. By 26th November 2010, the election procedure will be finished and on 27th of November, 2010, the term of the current assembly will be terminated.

On October 20th, the 1st phase of the Bihar Assembly elections took place. The total assembly constituencies were 47 and the total candidates were 631. 1.7 million Voters voted in the first phase.

October 24th was the day when the second phase of the Bihar elections took place in 45 constituencies.  About 99, 49,873 voters voted in the 2nd phase for deciding the destiny of 623 candidates. Balloting took place in 6 districts, namely Darbhanga, Sheohar Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Motihari, and Sitamarhi.

On October 27th, the 3rd phase of Bihar Assembly elections took place in 48 assembly constituencies. Total voters were about 10,376,022 people while the total candidates were 785.

The 4th phase of Bihar Assembly elections was held on 1st November, 2010, in 42 constituencies. Although affected by some Maoist activities, the voting process was completed peacefully. An approximate of 10.4 million people appeared to caste their votes.

The 5th phase of the Bihar Assembly elections 2010 took place on 9th November in 35 constituencies. The voting process was by far peaceful with few Maoist activities here and there. About 4 million people came to caste their vote.

With the completion of the 6th phase on November 20, 2010, it will be interesting and exciting to know who finally comes to power, when the Bihar Assembly Election Results is out on 24th 2010.
